1. SET UP YOUR ONLINE FUNDRAISING PAGE
Make it easy for donors, both before and at your event. Even if people can’t attend, they can still make a donation to support you and your cause.
2. SET A FUNDRAISING GOAL
Think about a realistic goal and share it with your friends. Knowing how much you’re hoping to raise will give your friends a sense of how much they should donate to help you.
3. KICK-START YOUR FUNDRAISING
Show you’re committed by making a contribution to your own fundraising page to get the ball rolling. Your guests will soon follow.
4. SPREAD THE WORD
Share your fundraising page via Facebook and email, and ask your guests to do the same. Unfortunately, we all know someone affected by cancer so you’d be amazed how supportive even strangers can be.
5. REMIND PEOPLE TO DONATE
Don’t forget to keep guests up-to-date with details of your event and your progress as you near your goal, and remind them to donate online anytime. Make sure you also have a donation box on the night – even spare change helps!
6. APPROACH YOUR EMPLOYER
Ask your employer to match the amount you raise at your event to double your fundraising total.
7. APPROACH LOCAL BUSINESSES
Identify local businesses that could assist in sourcing or supplying raffle prizes or items for auction. Download our handy guide for how to get the support of local businesses.
7. FUNDRAISING BOOSTERS
If you want to raise even more money on the night, you could hold a raffle, auction or a quiz. Try approaching local businesses to donate prizes for your event.
8. HIGHLIGHT THE CAUSE
Download resources and display them at your event. Feel free to share a personal story and tell your guests why you got involved.
